The Friends of Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge

The Friends of Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge is a nonprofit organization that advocates for and supports the mandate of the refuge to protect and enhance wildlife and their habitats through education, research, habitat preservation and restoration and compatible public uses.

Friends of Turnbull NWR supports environmental education and community access, habitat restoration, and research projects on the Refuge.

The Blue Goose Flies Quilt Auction . . . . Bid Now click on poster . . . .

Auction dates: September 1 - October 17, 2026

Based on the iconic Blue Goose, "The Blue Goose Flies" quilt honors the National Wildlife Refuge System and the spirit of conservation that guides our work. Each stitch reflects the landscapes we work to protect. The quilt is made from Robert Kaufman batiks featuring animals and fauna, and the "Flying Geese" pieced squares are in honor of all who actively work for our public lands. Your participation in this auction supports habitat restoration, wildlife monitoring, and environmental education at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge. Bid generously to help keep this refuge a living classroom and safe haven for wildlife. 🪶🌲 This quilt is 72 inches wide by 46 inches vertical, made of blue batiks and unbleached cotton fabric. It was designed, and lovingly pieced, by one of our longtime members, Molly Zammit, and quilted by Terry Engleman, a national award winning quilter. It can be a coverlet or a wall hanging.
