Turnbull NWR Community Work Party on Saturday October 10, 2009 from 9 am to Noon. Potluck Lunch at Noon.

Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge and Spokane Audubon Society will host a community work party on Saturday, October 10, 2009. This is part of an ongoing community effort to restore native riparian habitat to benefit birds and other wildlife species. We have more than 50 native saplings to plant, and fencing to build at the project site to protect the trees from deer, elk, and moose browsing. Everyone is welcome! If you would like to come with a group, please call Sandy at (509) 235-4723 to register in advance. It helps us in our planning if we know how many are coming. The Refuge will also host a “potluck” lunch. Please feel free to bring your favorite dish. We recommend a long-sleeved shirt, work pants, sturdy boots or shoes, and gloves. If you have some to bring, pliers and shovels are helpful.

Friends of Turnbull Winter Festival. December 5, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Our annual Winter Festival will feature the very popular elk tours: one at 9:00 a.m and the second at 1:00 p.m. We will have a wonderful raptor program by West Valley Outdoor Learning Center from 11:00 to Noon, followed by our popular chili feed. Feast on chili, corn bread, pot luck side dishes, cookies, muffins, hot chocolate, coffee, and tea while you support The Friends of Turnbull. Local musicians will provide music all day for great entertainment. Elk Tours fill up fast so call 509-723-0450 or email looeezoleary@netscape.net to pre-register. Download a WinterFest Flyer.

The Friends of Turnbull store will be open - great Christmas gifts! Selected items at reduced prices.
